At this year’s BC Economic Development Awards, the Northwest BC Workforce Resident Attraction initiative (WARA) was awarded the Marketing Innovation Award (in the over-20,000 population category) from The British Columbia Economic Development Association (BCEDA) annual awards ceremony. This award recognizes achievement in marketing initiatives that support local communities in economic development and making meaningful change.

The WARA team includes the City of Terrace, District of Kitimat, City of Prince Rupert, Village of Hazelton, District of New Hazelton, and Regional District of Kitimat-Stikine.

The partners came together to run the successful “What’s Holding You Back?” campaign, which was targeted towards those most likely to move to Northwest BC based on surveys and market research. The campaign was launched across digital and social media channels, which reached millions of people and increased interest about opportunities across the region.
