Recently, there have been two exciting government announcements related to small businesses in Northwest BC:

April 2, 2024Airport improvements support services, growth for communities

  • New support for B.C.’s regional airports will improve the lives of people in rural, remote and Indigenous communities by enhancing front-line services, such as firefighting and health care, while fostering economic growth.
  • The Province is investing $11 million through the BC Air Access Program to support 26 upgrades at two dozen airports throughout British Columbia, prioritizing the needs of local communities.  
  • Terrace Airport is to receive $2 million for runway rehabilitation and new lights and signage.

November 1, 2024Government of Canada announces $2.7 million to support small businesses in British Columbia

  • PacifiCan funding will enable support for local small businesses.
  • PacifiCan is the federal economic development agency dedicated to British Columbians. It works with partners who are building innovative businesses, creating quality jobs, and supporting inclusive growth throughout our province.
  • Small businesses represent 98% of all businesses operating in British Columbia.
